Self-publishing poem--------- "Sixth Sense"

                                                              "Sixth Sense"

I can hear the moon's lonesome as the stars hide
Its cry echoes in the shivering night,
But it seems that only I can hear it.
My ears whisper to me,
The fond voice that was once harmonious
But now it hurts me destroys me.
Many times I've tried to forget and erase you,
But I fail,
Panic,
And let my obsession recall the path your hands took on my body.
Night after night, I flip through the photographs we took,
I walk the streets you lead me through,
Until I lose myself in our countless memories.
When my nose recognizes your scent,
I frantically run, hoping to see you again.
And I shout your precious name,
But my words are as weak as the autumn leaves.
My eyes are fogged with disbelief, but the tears do not fall.
Instead, the dark clouds spray down my uneasy cheeks
You and I were so close; it was as if we were one.
Without you my senses dull.
My life is not complete.
As I think of you once more, my heart endlessly cries.

So much depends upon

A simple truthful answer

Clotted with loaded misunderstanding

Over the narrow bright bridge of love.

English self-found poem

THE PIG'S HEAD

Dripping whispers of the dead
Silence came fast through the forest towards the open beach
Lord of the Flies grinned and dripped, displaying ancient, inescapable recognition of evil

Laughter of the Beast echoes
Creatures follow in waves of silver as if the head called to them
Looming about, they covered all of innocence

Colours drained from the island
The earth with a horrible mole
The inaudible corruption spreads

The Beast hunted and killed, in hopes of ending fear
Fear discovered violence, in hopes of safety
Hopes turned down, boys killed

The spear moving inch by inch
Deeper and deeper into the darkness that lures
Daylight might have answered yes;
But the darkness and the horrors of death said no

Dim-eyed, grinning faintly, blood blackening,
The dead threatened hopeful rescue

Almost half an hour after his realization of his companions' deaths and the meaningless trek in the snow, Conrad coincidentally found a command bunker and stepped inside. The bunker was very low and forced everyone to crouch down. He saw maps, a beaten radio being handled with, a squat stove, helmets, and water trickling down from the ceiling into the corner of the room. One of these men stared at Conrad with surprise and welcomed the guest with much warmth. The man was Josef Zeitsler; Conrad's brother. At this occurrence  Conrad was back into being a simple little brother and felt relieved to know that his brother is now in charge of what happens. He now thought Josef would now make everything right and back to normal. He would now go back home.

In the midst of this happy reunion, Conrad never forgot to write to his mother back in Germany. After a sincere letter to his mother was written, they climbed out of the bunker to supply a bombing team with a sack grenades upgraded with other materials attached to the weapon such as shrapnel and metal things. Although it was Christmas day, the two of them still stayed cautious as they moved positions. Conrad was talking to his brother about how glad he is to have found Josef again, when sadly Josef is shot by somebody straight into the temples. Josef died instantly and could not respond to Conrad. Conrad found two figures hiding in the distance slipping into a hole. So he slowly approached the hole. And threw his sack of explosives down the hole only to be shot anonymously in the process.

Sergei being a curious little boy decided to spend his Christmas time outside looking for some war action. He had been quietly waiting for  something to happen when he saw two German soldiers using the rubble as a part of protection. Along with the two Germans, he saw somebody else. Yelena Pavola and Vasily carefully camouflaged into their environment. When suddenly one of the German soldier's exposed head is shot backwards. He saw the second German soldier try to get at the two Russians but helped them by shooting at the German. However, Sergei was too late and although he shot the German soldier, the German seemed to have thrown a sack into the hole that the sniper and her assistance stepped into. And soon, the hole exploded with dirt and rubble, and the German soldier lay still.

Yelena and Sergei are trapped inside the hole and injured to the point of immobility. Yelena forced Vasily to shoot at her head to ease the pain and die faster. Vasily wrote a letter to his father, which wouldn't be read by the recipient, dying a slow death with the darkness of the hollow and concealed room.

This is such a nice novel. I enjoyed reading this novel until the end. I really liked the fact that all three main characters of this novel started off at different places, but ending with the three coincidentally involved in the deaths at the hole. +++

It's Christmas day in the city, or remains, of Stalingrad. This is usually a day when most soldiers take the "day off" and remain at their bases or bunkers.

Conrad is now alone and wandering into the white space with blackened & frozen limbs sticking out of the white. As he is walking he listens to his crew mates complain about their situation. As he listens to his mates, he soon realizes the fact that they were all dead or sent back home. He had been asleep while walking in a monotonous sheet of white. Erich was sent back home due to his injury, Franz just collapsed due to malnutrition and insufficient layers of clothing, Gottfried died screaming in a burning tank, and Heinz bled to death due to one leg being blown off by a shell and the other just hanging on by a few tendons. He was alone and didn't see the point of moving on. However, he still had hope of seeing his brother, Josef, fighting in Stalingrad. And so, Conrad moves on.

As for Vasily and Yelena, their fight in the battle is still dangerous as before, but they are fighting well. Vasily still makes a distraction for Yelena, while Yelena shoots the hidden enemy. Their fight in the war has been pretty consistent; almost to the point where their daily lives are "timely scheduled" with just different events occurring. Just before the day gets late, the two return to their bunker where other soldiers find shelter, food, and rest. Occasionally, inside the bunker, somebody would start a catchy tune with an accordion and create a dance hall out of such a stale, miserable place. In addition, talks about Hitler, Stalin, communism, fascism, doubts, and all the prohibited subjects are let out and debated upon. In front of a high rank, loyal, Russian leader, that would cause death or severe punishment. But at this point in the game, nobody seems to care what others say about their own leader and his "great" decisions.

Sergei is given a rifle by an old man, a neighbor, as a way of payment for the turnip that he stole from the old man's garden. But the old man did not just hand over the rifle, he "ordered" Sergei to kill German soldiers according to the number of turnips he stole. Sergei, being a little child, is curious of the heavy machinery he holds. And since his mother doesn't want the weapon to be in their apartment, Sergei hides it in one of many hiding places he discovers. As a fantasy, Sergei wanted to become a sniper; just like the famous snipers in his pictures. And he hopes to become a great sniper like Yelena Pavlova.
